Why 1640 × 624
Facebook shows the cover at 820 × 312 pixels on a computer. A photo twice that size stays sharp on high-resolution screens and phones.
Phones cut the sides
On phones Facebook shows a taller part of the cover and cuts off the left and right edges. Keep text and logos in the middle.
Leave room for the profile photo
Your round profile photo covers part of the bottom left of the cover. Don’t put anything important there.
