BasePic

Compress an image
to any file size.

Pick a size like 100 KB or 1 MB and BasePic makes the photo fit, at the best quality it can.

or drag and drop files anywhere on this page · paste an image with Ctrl+V

How it works

  1. Upload a photo

Tap Upload photo and pick a JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP photo.

  2. Pick a file size

Resize opens on File size. Tap 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or 2 MB, or type your own size in KB under Custom.

  3. Save and download

Tap Save & get link. The smaller photo gets its own link and a Download button.

Exactly under the limit

Job sites, exam forms and government portals often take photos only under 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. Type the limit under Custom and BasePic finds the best quality that still fits.

Saved as JPEG

The compressed photo is saved as JPEG — or as WebP when it has transparent parts or already was WebP. The new file carries no location or camera details.

For very small sizes

Under 50 KB, a smaller photo looks better than a heavily compressed big one. Save a smaller version with Resize → Pixels first (for example 800 pixels wide), then compress that one.

The original stays safe

Compressing makes a new copy with its own link. The original photo does not change.

Compress image: questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Upload the photo, open File size under Resize and tap 100 KB. Then tap Save & get link and Download.

How do I compress a photo to 20 KB or 50 KB?

Type 20 or 50 in the Custom box under File size. For such small sizes, save a smaller version with Resize → Pixels first, so the photo stays clear.

Will compressing lower the quality?

A smaller file always holds less detail, but BasePic keeps the highest quality that fits the size you pick.

Does it work with iPhone photos?

Yes. HEIC photos are turned into JPG in your browser first, then compressed like any other photo.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up and no watermark.
