How it works
- Upload a photo
Tap Upload photo and pick a photo from your phone or camera.
- See the details
Info opens on the photo: camera, lens, settings, date taken, size and print size.
- Check the location
If the photo has GPS data, you see the nearest town or city and links to OpenStreetMap and Google Maps.
Where was this photo taken?
Phones save the GPS position in most photos. BasePic reads it and shows the nearest place, with map links. Only you see it, in the browser you uploaded from.
Removed before sharing
The location is read first and then removed from the file before it goes online. Your link never carries it, unless you choose Show location on this page.
Camera and settings
Camera and lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, flash, the software used and the date and time zone the photo was taken.
Many formats
Works with JPG and HEIC photos from phones, with PNG, WebP and TIFF, and with many camera RAW files.
EXIF viewer: questions
How can I see where a photo was taken?
Upload it and look at Info. If the photo has GPS data, you see the nearest place and a map link.
Why does my photo show no details?
Many apps and websites remove metadata when they save or send a photo. Then there is nothing left to read.
Who else sees the location?
No one, unless you turn on Show location on this page. The shared file never contains it.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up.
