How it works
- Upload your video
Tap Upload video and pick an MP4, MOV, WebM or another video, up to 2 GB.
- Pick a size
The video editor opens on Size. Tap 16 MB · WhatsApp, 20 MB · Discord or 25 MB · Email, or type your own size under Other.
- Save and send
Tap Save & get link. The smaller video gets its own link and a Download button.
It fits, every time
BasePic works out how much room each second of video can have, picks the resolution and the quality, and measures the saved file. If it is still too big, it makes it again a little smaller. The saved video is never larger than the size you pick.
Trim first, keep the detail
A shorter video needs less room, so it keeps more detail. Cut the part you need with Trim, or crop it to 9:16 for Reels and TikTok with Crop, in the same editor before you save.
An MP4 that plays everywhere
The compressed video is an H.264 MP4 with AAC sound, which plays on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac.
The original stays safe
Compressing makes a new copy with its own link. Your original video and its link do not change.
Compress video: questions
How do I compress a video for WhatsApp?
Upload the video, pick 16 MB · WhatsApp under Size and tap Save & get link. Then download the new video, or send its link.
How do I make a video small enough for email?
Pick 25 MB · Email — Gmail takes attachments up to 25 MB per message. For a bigger video, send the BasePic link instead: it works for videos up to 2 GB.
Will the video lose quality?
A smaller file always holds less detail. BasePic keeps as much as fits: short videos stay sharp, and long videos get a lower resolution so they still fit.
How long can the video be?
A compressed video can be up to 15 minutes long. Trim a longer video first, or send the original with a BasePic link.
What if the app still refuses the video?
Apps change their limits from time to time. Pick a smaller size, or type your own under Other.
