ShareX image uploader.
Screenshot, link, done.
A ready custom uploader for ShareX: every screenshot goes to BasePic and you get a short link in seconds. Free, no account, no API key.
1. Download the uploader
Pick the link you want ShareX to copy after each screenshot:
- BasePic.sxcu — the short link, such as
https://basepic.com/vqSvesFU: a page with the image that shows a preview in chats. - BasePic-direct.sxcu — the direct link to the image file, such as
https://basepic.com/vqSvesFU/screenshot.png: for forums, Markdown and<img>.
2. Add it to ShareX
Double-click the downloaded file. ShareX adds BasePic to its custom uploaders and asks whether to set it as the active custom uploader for images — choose Yes.
Or add it by hand: in the ShareX main window click Custom uploader settings…, then Import → From file… and pick the file. Then choose Destinations → Image uploaders → Custom image uploader.
3. Turn on uploading
A new ShareX install saves each screenshot and copies the image, but does not upload it. In the main window open After capture tasks and tick Upload image to host. After upload tasks → Copy URL to clipboard is already on.
4. Take a screenshot
ShareX uploads it to BasePic and copies the link to the clipboard, so you can paste it right away. Every upload is also listed under History… in the main window.
Delete a screenshot
ShareX keeps a deletion link for every upload. Open History…, right-click the screenshot and choose Open → Deletion URL. The BasePic page of the image opens in your browser with a Delete button. Deleting removes both links.
What the file contains
The uploader is a small text file. It sends the screenshot itself to the BasePic API and reads the link from the answer:
{
"Version": "21.0.0",
"Name": "BasePic",
"DestinationType": "ImageUploader",
"RequestMethod": "POST",
"RequestURL": "https://basepic.com/api/v1/images",
"Parameters": {
"filename": "{filename}"
},
"Body": "Binary",
"URL": "{json:page_url}",
"ThumbnailURL": "{json:image_url}",
"DeletionURL": "{json:page_url}#delete={json:delete_key}",
"ErrorMessage": "{json:error}"
}
The direct-link file is the same, with "URL": "{json:image_url}". The API is described on API for AI.
Greenshot (Windows)
Greenshot’s External command plugin can send a screenshot to BasePic with curl.exe, which comes with Windows 10 (version 1803
and later) and Windows 11. Right-click the Greenshot icon, choose Configure external commands, then New:
- Name:
BasePic - Command:
C:\Windows\System32\curl.exe - Arguments: the line below
-s -H "Content-Type: image/png" --data-binary "@{0}" "https://basepic.com/api/v1/images?filename=screenshot.png" After a capture, pick BasePic in the menu Greenshot shows. Greenshot copies the first link from the answer — the short link — to the clipboard.
Without ShareX
Any program that can run a command can upload the same way. The answer is JSON; page_url is the short link and
image_url the direct one.
Linux and macOS, with Flameshot:
flameshot gui --raw | curl -s -H 'Content-Type: image/png' --data-binary @- \
'https://basepic.com/api/v1/images?filename=screenshot.png' macOS, with the built-in screenshot tool (select an area, then the link is copied):
screencapture -i /tmp/shot.png && curl -s -H 'Content-Type: image/png' \
--data-binary @/tmp/shot.png 'https://basepic.com/api/v1/images?filename=shot.png' \
| sed -E 's/.*"page_url":"([^"]+)".*/\1/' | pbcopy Any system, a file you already have:
curl -s -H 'Content-Type: image/png' --data-binary @screenshot.png \
'https://basepic.com/api/v1/images?filename=screenshot.png'

ShareX questions
Do I need an account or an API key?
No. The uploader sends each screenshot to the free BasePic API, which has no accounts and no keys. Limits are per IP address: 60 uploads per hour, 300 per day and 2 GB per day. Each image can be up to 50 MB.
Who can see my screenshots?
Only people who have the link. Uploads are not listed anywhere on BasePic and their pages are hidden from search engines.
Which link does ShareX copy?
BasePic.sxcu gives the short link: a page with the image that shows a preview in chats. BasePic-direct.sxcu gives the direct link to the image file, for forums, Markdown and HTML.
Can I upload screen recordings?
GIF recordings, yes: they are images and keep their animation. MP4 videos are not accepted by this uploader; upload them on the BasePic home page instead.
How do I delete a screenshot?
Open the deletion link that ShareX saved for the upload. It opens the BasePic page of the image with a Delete button. Deleting removes both links.
Does it work without ShareX?
Yes. Greenshot can send screenshots with its External command plugin, and Flameshot or the macOS screenshot tool with one curl command. The steps are on this page.
Is my location kept?
Screenshots carry no location. For photos, the GPS location is removed before the image goes online.
